Is just a Bachelor's degree enough these days?

I understand it depends on what the major was, so let's say the major was a liberal arts education in Economics. Would this education be sufficient in earning a high paying job? Or would the student have to pursue further education in order to achieve a job that pays well. The only incentive is not to earn money - an interest in the subject is assumed.
