Would you recommend becoming a pastry chef?

go for it .. im going for executive chef theres only some who can handle the industry of hospitality start looking at colleges around you , you should prolly try to get a part time job at a local bakery that way youll really know if u like it or not cuz once you get a little taste of it youll either want to do so much more with it like moving up the ladder at work or you might find out yeek u dont like it but pastry chefs make about 50k to 60k depending on where u live and your job .. get a job in a casino when u get older thats where youll bring in the big bucks !!
